Jessica's Analysis
Not surprisingly, I love this song. I love the Sick Puppies, but "White Balloons" adds a new spice by featuring their bassist, Emma Anzai, on vocals. The mix of a soft, melodic-acoustic feeling and the normal hard-rock feel of the band is great. Meaningful lyrics+great music=a stellar song. Here's the breakdown: First, I think there is symbolism in the fact that the balloons are white. Many people think of white as the color of holiness and purity, therefore Heaven and God. 'Angels, lift me' supports this evidence. I also think this song is reaching out to someone(possibly a god, though they're not an overly religious band) after a series of rejections or trials. The character has tried on all his 'faces' and now 'nobody sees' him/her. The character is reaching out to find someone to will see them for who they are. Also, the writer compares the character to contradicting weather. (See full lyrics)
