Jessica's Analysis
Though this song is about hope, it is quite depressing. Beautiful, thoughtful, well written, but depressing. Musically, it's one of my favorite acoustic songs by The Spill Canvas. It's definitely worth reading through the complete lyrics. Here's the breakdown: I highly recommend reading the complete lyrics. The lyrics tell a story. A lot of people miss the opening lyrics because they're low in volume. First, as if in a playwright, the stage is set ('enter beautiful girl'), etc. Then the lyrics go through the two characters' conversations. You find out the female is on the cliff to commit suicide, and the male character is trying to advise her against it by offering the ultimatum: 'instead of dying, living with me.' Later in the lyrics, you realize that he, too, was planning to commit suicide but together they overcome the urges.
Please understand that my opinion doesn't have to be yours. If you disagree, strike up a conversation about it! That's the design of the Project. We'll all learn a little somethin'.
